The Deep Dark Drop

The Deep Dark Drop

I hear Birds chirping
And Whistling a tune.
They've been at it a lot
Even when it's long last afternoon.

Soon they will silence
Each bird one by one.
They're going to bed
When darkness comes upon.

I sat high up on the rocks,
There's a steap drop underneath me.
But I sit here looking,
Looking out to sea.

There's a bright light far away
It's inching closer and closer.
It's blinding to look at,
Even with my hands held over.

Darkness begins to take out the light.
The light is being devoured by it.
But what was this thing?
What was the thing that was brightly lit?

Darkness is here now.
The time has come
It's become too dark,
Dark enough to even blind some.

I stand up and take a breath,
The question burning on my mind.
It's not the question that I need,
But the answer I must find.

I turn around
And I walk away
Free to ponder this
For another day.
